New Driving Cars. Drawings for new driving cars for both the petrol hydraulic loco and the Wren had been drawn up by Mike Thomas. Thanks to Mike for a very good job and also for the input into the manufacturing of a number of parts. The laser cut plates for the first riding car ( petrol hydraulic loco ) had been delivered and assembly of the body and chassis completed, thanks to our chief welder Tony Agar. Top coat had been applied to both the body and chassis, thanks this time to Geoff Symms.Wheels and axles for both driving cars had been generously donated by an engineering company based in Dinnington. Assembly of the wheels, axles and axle boxes had been completed, we were indebted once again to Tony Agar for the manufacture of the superb axle boxes. The new driving car for the petrol hydraulic loco is now complete and has been put into service. This now removes the problem previously experienced when the original driving car was required for the Wren at outside events. The second driving car, this time for the Wren, has been put into abeyance as there are more pressing jobs that need to be carried out. Petrol Hydraulic Loco "Green Dragon". During one of the Parties held in the park disaster struck the loco. A connecting rod broke and punctured the engine casing. For some time the performance of the loco had appeared to fall off. We managed to quickly obtain a replacement engine at a reasonable cost. This has now been fitted and there is notable improvement in the locos performance. Wren "Victoria Rose" New Copper Boiler. The new copper boiler for the Wren has been completed and has been successfully tested. Thanks must go to Peter Farrar and all who assisted Peter. The Wren has been stripped down and is being re-assembled. Painting is almost complete. During the absence of the Societies Wren we have to thank Doctor Paul for the loan of his Wren.
