Society Locomotives and Training

The Society owns three locomotives.

•

An 0-4-0 Wren tank locomotive named "Victoria Rose"

•

An 0-6-0 Petrol Hydraulic Locomotive named "Green

Dragon"

•

A Co-Co Diesel Hydraulic Locomotive in the shape of

a Class 37 diesel. This loco is currently under

construction.

All three of these locomotives are of 7.25" gauge.

Driving and Training.

Training both theoretical and practical is available to all

members. This would be on either the Wren steam

locomotive or the Green Dragon petrol hydraulic

locomotive. There is no age limit for learning to drive,

however there are age restrictions for hauling passengers.

Competent drivers who are aged 16 or over and have been

passed out are permitted to haul passengers. Drivers under

16 are not allowed to haul members of the public but may

under supervision haul members of their family.

Taster at Driving a Locomotive.

To get some idea as to what is involved we can give a short

session at driving either the steam or petrol hydraulic loco

before having to commit to joining the Society. This would

be carried out by prior appointment either on a Sunday or

Wednesday afternoon.
