Please note that the full Chairman’s reports from the newsbriefs can be downloaded by clicking on the respective Date Heading. The downloads are in the pdf format. August 2014. Pointing of the top layer of bricks of the turntable pit has been completed and the last few yards of track between the end of the spur and the turntable has been laid. The area between the container/loco shed and the turntable has been concreted and a piece of removable track constructed that bridges the gap between the turntable and any one of the three tracks in the container/shed. March 2014. The turn table is virtually complete, with only the railings to paint in top coat and a small amount of pointing remaining. December 2013. The turntable has now been fully installed complete with its hydraulic lifting pump. The table has been successfully raised to full height using a hand operated lever. The whole of the turn table pit has been covered over with aluminium chequer plate. August 2013. The turntable is now installed in its pit and painted. The ring on which it rotates was rolled by ourselves and bolted to the concrete floor by ragbolts. March 2013. The turntable is now well advanced with the construction coming together reasonably quickly. The rotating/elevating structure is totally complete. The turntable pit has been bricked up and back filled to the height of the top of the breeze blocks. August 2012. Grass seeding has now been completed in the remaining area of the new loop extension and is by now well established. There has been limited physical progress to report on the proposed turntable, except for a very large excavation were the turntable is to be constructed. The track repairs in the vicinity of the catenary at the approach to the 1 in 22 grade,  have been completed. March 2012. Chippings   have   now      been   spread   throughout   the   length   of   the   new   loop   and   all   that   remains   to   be   done   is   seeding of the top soil. There is no progress to report on the turntable project due to other priorities. Trackwork still needs to be attended to in the area of the catenary to the 1 in 22 gradient. December 2011. It was reported that the extended loop project was now complete. Further landscaping had been carried out, mainly levelling areas ready for seeding. Construction of the turn table, outside the proposed loco shed, has commenced with excavation work complete Details of the actual mechanics of the turntable have still to be finalised. A number of concrete slabs have been laid under the track, where it starts to rise up the gradient, in order to correct the undulations in the track. August 2011. Work on the extended loop continues and is now getting close to completion. There is only the topsoil to spread on one side of the cutting, the placing of track ballast and the sowing of grass seed. March 2011. Most of the hard landscaping of the track extension is now complete.  The flagstone edging of the outer radius is finished and the new HALT platform has been built. Landscaping needs to be completed prior to sowing the area with grass seed and finally putting in the track ballast. December 2010. Landscaping of the new extension continues with edging stones along the whole length of the inner radius installed and a start  made on edging the outer radius.
